Variable Resistors

The resistor's function is to reduce the flow of electric current. The variable resistor is made from carbon, cement (ceramic and metal mixture) or a coil of wire (for low resistances). The variable resistor's value is easily changed, like the volume adjustment of a radio. The rotation angle of the variable resistor is usually about 300 degrees. This symbol volum.gif is used to indicate a variable resistor in a circuit diagram.
